Artist's Statement

Stephen Hopkins, my 8th great grandfather, arrived to Cape Cod on the Mayflower, after his 2nd trip to the New World. I inherited from him the same spirit of travel and appreciation of home.

My passion for photography and experience with illustration have merged to tell many tales through my photographic illustrations. I am excited to share with others the spark of recognition and memories recalled through my images. My images will carry one back to a simpler time, taking one to a new, yet familiar world.

History

Elisabeth J Kelly is an 11th generation Cape Codder who grew up in Chatham on Cape Cod. Attending public schools in  Chatham, she did not feel satisfied with education opportunities there. She attened Dana Hall School in Wellesley, Massachusetts. This is where Gene Scattergood, artist and teacher taught her one on one, preparing her for art school. Majoring in Fashion Illustration at the Pratt Institute in New York City and in Fine Arts at the Corcoran Museum School in Washington, D.C., she was an honors student. Elisabeth has lived and studied in St. Croix,U.S.V.I, the Outer Banks of North Carolina, under Clarence Haggins in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and under Sam Scopas in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

She is at home on Cape Cod.
